Martial Arts Okotoks
Welcome to the Martial Arts Okotoks - Meibukan Goju-Ryu Karate Dojo.
Welcome to the Okotoks Meibukan Goju-Ryu Karate Dojo. We are honored to be an associate of the distinguished Global Meibukan Goju-ryu Karate-do Association (IMGKA). The IMGKA is directed by Master Yagi, Meitatsu, Hanshi, 10th Dan, eldest son of the late Grandmaster Yagi, Meitoku. At this time there are IMGKA dojos worldwide in addition to numerous dojos founded available all over Canada.
The training performed shall be both exhilarating and satisfying, as you and/or your child, embrace karate-do-- "the way of karate". At our Dojo, training is offered in the time honored art of Okinawa Meibukan Goju-ryu karate-do, and that is viewed as a way of life, as well as a technique of self-defense. The Okotoks Meibukan Goju-Ryu Martial arts Dojo (karate school) is honored to open its doors in the attractive setting of Okotoks, Alberta, located approx 15 minutes south of Calgary.
We are an instructive establishment committed to training classic Okinawa Meibukan Goju-Ryu Karate-do. This "hard" (go) and "soft" (ju) variety of martial arts emphasizes the significance of individual further advancement and self-defense facets of karates, as opposed to the athletics styles.
We integrate elements of traditional martial wisdom in a non-competitive, non-sport environment. Goju-Ryu is formally recognized as one of the initial three varieties of karate and was the very first style to become officially named. At our Dojo you will additionally learn self-defense strategies and kobudo (weapons). Found within this method of karate are truly aspects of Judo, Ju-Jitsu and Kung Fu. Circular blocking strategies, powerful strikes and kicks, and the usage of joint locks, arm bars and throwing techniques define this martial art. Additionally we emphasize proper breathing techniques to cleanse, strengthen and tap into our internal physical health.
Pupils heighten mental discipline, confidence and a "Yes, I can do it!" perspective.
